Celebrating Co-operation at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Fairtrade Yorkshire occupied a marquee at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park near Wakefield on 16th September, as part of a celebration of the International Year of Co-operatives. Crowds came to our information stall and to view our Global Advocates exhibition.
The free one-day event was organised by The Co-operative, stalwart supporter of Fairtrade Yorkshire. Campaigners came from across Yorkshire to spend the day spreading the message about the Fairtrade Yorkshire campaign.
For youngsters, Hannah set up a craft activity stall, and showed everyone how to make a stunning Yorkshire rosette with a Fairtrade message.
Crowds at the event couldn’t miss these giant feet with their Yorkshire socks. A team of campaigners went roving around the Park reminding visitors to take a stepfor Fairtrade.
Take a step is this year’s Fairtrade Foundation theme, with the British public being encouraged to take an extra step, be it pledging to convert to Fairtrade coffee or tea, buying new Fairtrade products or encouraging a workplace, or community group, to switch to Fairtrade.
The feet were made for us by a group of Young Leaders from the interfaith “Inter-Active” project in Leeds, which was granted the ‘Inspire’ mark by the 2012 Olympics.
